SharePoint Designer - Get Started Tutorial

For those wishing to venture into designing your own SharePoint site, no SharePoint Designer, which is available as a free download on the homepage of Microsoft SharePoint. SharePoint Designer works with your SharePoint site to provide virtually unlimited design options. Before we can do, however, we need to get things established. Let's walk through the creation of SharePoint Designer to host the SharePoint site plus get to design your dream.
The first time you run SharePoint Designer will be presented with options for online Help, the maintenance process, plus the program Improving the customer experience. Once again, I chose the default options, leaving a mark on "Online Help".
The first thing to do is SharePoint Designer download from here. You will need to register for free download as well if you have a Live ID or Hotmail account, you can use for registration. Then we have the program, the next step is to install it. You will find that this part is easy. Even on my laptop with Vista, it was a 3-click install with default settings.
Then you can select whether to use Windows Update for this product. I recommend you keep your software updated.

Installation Options
The templates in the General category, are blank basic sites. Dynamic content capabilities of SharePoint are not integrated into these sites, but may be added later. This is a good option if you want to create a site from scratch.
To start a new site, rather than connecting to our host SharePoint, let's go to "File" as well as select "New" as well then "Web Site". In the dialog box that appears, we have a choice of General or SharePoint templates to choose from. Without doubt, noticed the Templates category. Before you object, check it out, it is empty.
Moreover, the SharePoint templates are based on ASP.NET technology. This can be exploited to deliver powerful, dynamic, two applications so that genuine user involvement. You also have the option of using the Import Wizard on the web, you can create new sites for importing files from a folder on your PC or from an existing website. Can not be used to move the dynamic components of SharePoint, though, so it can not import an existing SharePoint site.
For this exercise, we will create a site template provided by SharePoint.
In the bottom of the dialog box, you will see a place to specify the location of the site. All we have to do to interact with our site hosted SharePoint with SharePoint Designer is put our new site URL at that point. Let's move forward, rather than make, then make sure "SharePoint templates" stands out more, click "OK".

New Web dialog box
Another dialog box will have your login information in SharePoint. Enter your username plus password again, click "OK". The dialog box will be populated with SharePoint templates. The templates are executed from a blog site to track inventory or knowledge base, but today we will select "Blank Site" and more, click "OK".
SharePoint Designer will create all database files and folders from an ASP.NET based site, besides giving the directory. Has now created a blank ASP.NET web site ready. Feel free to browse their new site in your favorite browser to check your work!
