Auditing with SharePoint Server 2007

Many companies and government agencies have policies and regulations that require them to carefully monitor where and how users access to records and documents. In particular, the need to maintain audit logs that detail the events that monitoring data such as users view and update records and documents, and when these events occurred.
Previously, Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 does not provide extensive audit support. For example, you may not use the components to audit access to sites or access to items within lists. In response to requests from users, the latest version of Microsoft products and Technologies SharePoint offers many enhancements to support the audit, all included in the process of Microsoft Office 2007. Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 provide support for auditing user access to pages, content and documents, and include auditable events such as viewing and updating.
